My Journey to Enhance Video Personality on "The Sandbox Podcast Show"
Why the Vlog Challenge?
You might be wondering, why a v-log challenge? Well, as someone deeply passionate about photography and videography, I've always been more comfortable behind the camera. We are based in Quinceanera Photography and Video and my wife is the face of our business. Although we work together doing Quince event photography I wanted to pursue my own adventure in speaking about photography and that was the start.
But to take "The Sandbox Podcast Show" to the next level, I knew I needed to step in front of the lens. V-logging seemed like the perfect way to push my boundaries and develop a more engaging video personality. Doing a podcast show you have to interview other people that share the same likes while also making sure to keep the show flowing smoothly.
After our first episode I felt that I needed to focus on myself more in front of the camera so I decided to do this daily V-log challenge.
The Journey Begins
Starting the vlog challenge was both nerve-wracking and exhilarating. My first few videos were, let's be honest, a bit awkward. Finding the right words on the spot and maintaining a natural flow wasn't easy. I will be honest with you, anyone that thinks being on camera is easy it really isnt at all.
But as I continued, I noticed something amazing happening. With each video, I became more comfortable, my speech flowed better, and I started enjoying the process more and more. I can now go back and see that with each one I am starting to enjoy it more and can maintain eye contact with the camera as well as speaky my words more effectively.
Learning and Growing
Throughout this challenge, I've learned a lot about myself and the intricacies of creating engaging content. I've experimented with different styles, from casual walk-and-talk sessions to more structured sit-down monologues. On my first episodes you can see the nerves and the anxiety but now into my 2nd week I can now see myself being more comfortable.
Each approach taught me something new about how to connect with the audience and express my personality through the lens. I would strongly suggest this crazy idea to help enhance your online presence.
The Impact on "The Sandbox Podcast Show"
While these vlogs are separate from our main channel content, the impact on "The Sandbox Podcast Show" has been undeniable. My improved on-camera presence has translated into more dynamic and engaging podcast episodes. I can see that I am not as stiff as I was before. Now still I do see myself stumblle but trust me it is not as it was before. lol
I've received feedback from viewers who've noticed the difference, complimenting the enhanced energy and authenticity in our shows. At first that is a scary thing to ask for from strangers. You have to take all feedback, whether it is positive or negative. You have to put your ego aside so you can grow.
Looking Ahead
The vlog challenge has been a game-changer for me and "The Sandbox Podcast Show." Not only has it helped me grow personally and professionally, but it has also added a new dimension to our channel. I'm excited to continue this journey, exploring new ideas and pushing the boundaries of my content. I hope that through my trials that this will help you in this area. If not at least you can get a few laughs from my stories, thoughts and feelings.
Now keep in mind since these are daily V-logs the topics are not all photography related but personal to me.
